McDonald’s is moving forward by taking some steps to help protect the environment and its natural resources.it reports to GRI annually.It joined CI(Conservation International)which is an organization whose main goal is to protect the environment and its biodiversity in 1990.McDonald’s is using environment-friendly restaurant’s designs which use less energy.it is converting portions of its waste into usuable forms of energy.it is trying to use less packaging materials and it is hoping that by 2010 a global forestry policy applicable to all of its suppliers and purchases would be put in place.It was critized,however, for its role in the destruction of the Amazon Rainforest in the past and the cruel treatment of animals.

McDonald’s believes in giving back to local communities. RMHC have been helping children with cancer and other ailments and their families by providing them with free medical care and shelter .it also offers scholarhips to qualified students who cannot afford school expenses.McDonald’s was criticized of causing some children to become obese.In the past, some of its products were found to have cancer-causing compounds.It was sued by some employees for violationg the labor laws.McDonald’s is trying to change this image by adhering to labor laws and certain food guidelines to offer healthy food choices such as salads and fruits.it honors the top performing managers on an annual basis and it has a good benefits package for them although nonmanagers get paid the minimum wage.McDonald’s future goals include continued training and education of employees on their obligations under laws, regulations and company policies and to have more fundraisers to help out the needy and to support future medical and cancer research.

McDonalds claims that its menu is a good choice for a Balanced Active Lifestyle for all its customers regardless of age. They strive to serve high quality food and beverage products in varied portions that fit well in a balanced diet. Also they offer support programs for families and individuals to encourage voluntary participation in physical activities. Critics on the other hand are of the opinion that McDonald’s products fail to promote the well being of its customers. Legal critics blame instances of over 9 million obese kids and over 130 million overweight adults on McDonald’s product policy.
